Line & Loom Press accepts manuscripts from young writers in grades 3–12 working in poetry and short literary fiction. We read every submission personally.
What we're looking for
We publish work that takes language seriously — poetry that earns its images, fiction that trusts its readers. We're especially interested in voices that haven't been widely heard yet.
Poetry collections
Full-length collections (40–80 pages) and chapbooks (16–40 pages). We look for manuscripts with a strong sense of voice and internal coherence — poems that belong together.
- Full collections: 40–80 pages
- Chapbooks: 16–40 pages
- Any form or style welcome
- Previously published poems accepted if noted
Short literary fiction
Story collections and novellas from young writers. We're drawn to work that takes structural risks and finds meaning in the specific and the particular.
- Story collections: 40,000–80,000 words
- Novellas: 20,000–40,000 words
- Literary fiction only (no genre)
- Strong prose at the sentence level

We read everything
Every submission is read by a member of our editorial team. We aim to respond within 2-4 weeks.
Editorial conversation
We'll reach out to discuss the work. We believe in a collaborative editorial process — we publish writers, not just manuscripts.
Submission policies
- Who can submit
- We accept submissions from writers ages 13 and up. Writers under 18 must have a parent or guardian co-sign the submission form.
- Response time
- We aim to respond to all submissions within 2–4 weeks. Please do not query about your submission status before 4 weeks have passed.
- Simultaneous submissions
- We do accept simultaneous submissions. Please understand that each manuscript is promptly read one at a time.
- Previously published work
- Individual poems or stories that have appeared in journals or magazines are welcome. Please note prior publications in your cover letter.
- Manuscript format
- Submit as a PDF or .docx file. Use a standard readable font (12pt), double-spaced for prose, single-spaced for poetry. Include a title page with your name and contact information.
